4 Secrets For Pregnancy Skincare in Winters

Hey Mama, enjoying the winter bump? Layering up and staying cozy feels great but we hear you. Unwanted dryness and skin issues also rise during winters.

Don't fret!! It's completely normal to have skin issues in one form or another during pregnancy, especially in winters. Winter air is dry and with very low humidity levels due to which the skin loses moisture.

Dry skin makes you feel itchy and can increase stretch marks to some extent. And we all love smooth hydrated supple skin, don't we? Here are a few tips for pregnancy winter glow:

1. Use Almond Oil or Olive Oil Over Coconut oil in Winters - as it maintains perfect temperature for massage in this weather. Pamper yourself with a good massage which will eventually reduce stretch marks also and will make you feel more mobile. Shea butter, Olive oil and sweet almond oil are great choices. Make sure you are not allergic to any of these before complete application of the oil.

2. What Goes Inside-Shows Outside- Well well! Nothing works better than a nutrient rich food intake coupled with clear stomach. Flushing out toxins from the body by increasing fibre intake can do wonders. In winters we have many high fibre options.  Include water-rich vegetables and fruits in your diet, such as oranges, strawberries, peaches, cucumber, carrot, spinach, tomatoes, radishes and beetroot and you will see the difference. Eat those nutritious ladoos and gajar ka halwa!

3. Increase Your Liquid Intake- infuse your water with fruits or mint leaves to enhance the taste if you do not like pain water.  You should intake at least 2 -3 Litres of water daily. It is also advisable that you drink lukewarm water during winters.  You can substitute water with other beverages such as coconut water,  vegetable soups, lemon water, herbal teas and buttermilk.

4. Turn off the hot water: Yes, soaking in a steaming hot bath sounds tempting. Hot water is great for soothing tired toes and achy back, but its doesn't help the skin. Instead, just take the temperature a notch down to lukewarm water and you will see drastic improvement in the skin quality.
